  • Labour and Birth Care

When you are in established labour, we provide labour care and stay with you until a few hours after the baby is born. In early labour we will liaise with you over the phone and visit you at home if necessary. Most of our midwives support births at home, North Shore Hospital, or some of Aucklands primary birthing units. See each individual midwife’s profile for further details about where they will attend births.

  • Postnatal Care

We visit you at home to check on your health and wellbeing and to do your baby’s Well Child checks. We discharge you to Well Child Services between four and six weeks after baby is born. Click below to read more about postnatal care that is provided by a midwife straight after birth.

  • Homebirth

There is a body of evidence that shows homebirth is a safe and healthy option for women with low-risk pregnancies. Homebirth enables you to birth your baby in your own environment where you are most comfortable. If you are interested in having a homebirth, discuss with your midwife. See the website below for further information about planning a homebirth

  • Hospital Birth

  • VBAC

If you have had a previous caesarean and would like to have a vaginal birth for your next baby, we are skilled practitioners experienced in vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC).

  • Waterbirth

For healthy low-risk women, birth in water is a lovely option whether in hospital or at home. Water has been shown to be a safe and highly effective pain relief option for labour and birth.

  • Obstetrics

If you require obstetric input during your pregnancy, we refer you to the Obstetricians at North Shore Hospital. There is no charge for their consultations.

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
